Clyde Dearing
by admin

Appearance: Clyde has deep burgundy, upturned, monolid eyes hidden behind golden spectacles. His skin is pale and peppered with freckles, most notably across the bridge of his slight-snub nose. His pale pink lips rotate between holding a little pout or displaying a cocky smirk. Bright reddish-orange hair is normally slicked back but, if he is caught waking from a good night's sleep, his face would be framed with loose waves. He is always well kept, wearing clothes that often show off his form. These clothes were always white and black with hints of a light blue and gold accents. He often wears a coat with two-tails, and his boots are typically knee-high or thigh-high and are always without heels.

Hobbies and Talents: Clyde makes a wonderful pianist, specializing in traditional Caer Garreg music. He’s also a fairly skilled swordsman- he just misjudges how long he can go without his own blood during fights. He enjoys reading books as a pastime.

Extra Details: Clyde’s favorite form for his blood magic is a sword, sometimes a two-handed one.

Current Partner: None yet.
Rider Abilities: None- he has an S Rank Magic Study.
Mark of the Dragon: The man’s mark is a moderately small burgundy bear-claw on his left breast, with the mark’s paw pad in the shape of a thick but jagged spiral, the end of the spiral curving downwards. Should Clyde’s dragon ever make an appearance, the mark will glow a bright white.

Personality: Clyde is hard to get along with. He is quick to anger and accuse, often resorting to violence to resolve his issues. He can also be a bit dim-witted and will make really bad decisions if he isn’t given enough time to think. In the past, he used to be openly racist against any race other than artrune and he used to think lowly of the Dragon Class. However, Clyde has a tendency to please when he wants to stay on someone’s good side, usually because there is a benefit. However, with enough practice, he can change. It just takes a ridiculously long while for him and he is often happier as an end result.

Belief and Philosophy: Thanks to his father, he used to believe and live by The Tragedy of Mordicus. As soon as he entered a relationship with a Dragon Class hybrid, however, he chucked that book and all the beliefs it taught him out the window. So, rather than following a stupid book or a god he’s never seen or heard, he just lives his life day-to-day the best way he can.

Childhood: Clyde Dearing grew up with wealth and the title of a Baron. His father was his teacher and he dealt harsh punishments when Clyde couldn’t do something to his standards which usually included name-calling and a hard-whack of a ruler or rolled-up newspaper to his hands and head, respectively. When Clyde’s little brother was born, the terrible treatment escalated and he was often compared to his younger brother, who was deemed as smarter than Clyde (according to their father). This often went unnoticed by their mother as she was often busy but there were times where she would catch her husband mistreating her eldest and would give the older man the cold shoulder in response as she made time for Clyde to try and protect him. When they were not being homeschooled, Clyde and his little brother would often play or goof off under their nanny or mother’s watch.

Recent History: Recently, Clyde and his dragon lover returned from a trip to Thumak’s Domain where they met up the Velario’s half-brother. Clyde mostly stayed in their room at the tavern and inn but would venture out with them when he started to miss the dragon. They even went to Central City and fought in the arena there. It was a week-long trip and boarding the ferry again brought along some feelings for the other hybrid (Velario’s brother) that the redhead didn’t want (Clyde was already started to miss him). Now their next destination is Clyde’s home, so that his family (preferably just his mother) could meet Velario.

Notable Relationships
Maeve and David Dearing: Clyde’s parents. He loves his mother and she loves him a lot. He’s a momma's boy. Unlike her husband, Maeve is open-minded, caring, and patient. She also absolutely hates violence but she will cover her children’s misdeeds whenever it is needed so that she wouldn’t lose them to the law. Lately she hasn’t had to, thankfully. David, however, looks down on any race other than artrune and always voices his disdain for them whenever it applies. He doesn’t show much love for either of his children but even less for his eldest.

Gregory Dearing: Clyde’s younger brother. Over the years they have grown apart but Clyde still loves his brother dearly. As Clyde started to change, he noticed that his brother’s views were concerning, noting how they closely resembled their father’s, something that Clyde’s used to be. However, Gregory is not as open about it as Clyde had been and, unlike his older brother, knows when to be courteous. Gregory is currently taking classes in Esfandell so Clyde hopes the younger man’s views can change.

Lory Havisham: Miss Havisham was Clyde’s favorite caretaker and nanny. Whenever Maeve was too busy to look after Clyde and Greg and their father wasn’t teaching them, Miss Havisham set up fun activities for the boys. She would show them how to host tea parties, take them on outings on little rowboats across the pond, and even taught little Clyde how to play the piano and Greg the violin. David fired her when he realized that his kids were having too much fun and it broke little Clyde’s heart.

Miss Havisham and Marshmallow: These two are both pure-white Afghan Hounds that love Clyde just as much as he loves them. Whenever he returns home and they hear his voice, they come running. They’re known to knock him over onto his back and lick his face off. Miss Havisham is the female dog, named after Clyde’s favorite nanny and Marshmallow is the male, named after Clyde’s most favorite sweet. He owns both these dogs and has raised them since they were tiny puppies. Despite the dogs being very sweet and playful, they will easily go into attack mode and defend Clyde from any perceived threats.

Velario Dorcha Murali: Both of Clyde’s parents (mostly his mother) constantly sent him to Partner Ceremonies that known dragons held. He met Velario at his own Partner Ceremony but they didn’t hit it off- not right away. As usual, the redhead was confrontational and even got violent. He was easily subdued by the dragon and promptly threw a fit right after, passing out after he held onto his blood magic for too long. He woke up in Velario’s care and the dragon doted on him, even going so far as to follow him everywhere. It got to the point where Clyde genuinely started to enjoy the dragon’s company and they started traveling together. Clyde can’t imagine traveling without Velario ever again and is starting to develop deep romantic feelings for the man though he’s having a hard time admitting it.

Leonidas Istoria Urukgar: Velario’s older half-brother and someone who Clyde despises. Or despised. Clyde’s still on the fence about it as what little of the other man he got to know, Clyde was starting to enjoy his company. Not as much as Velario’s, but still. Regardless of how kind the other man is to him, Clyde can sense the other man was competitive when it came to Velario’s attention. At least for a while. Also, to Clyde, he had a punchable face. That he got to punch. Velario gave him permission to.

Limitations: I don’t want Clyde to die (yet) and I don’t want him dismembered. He can be injured to an extent- if you plan on giving him a permanent scar, please send me a message first to see if I’m okay with the location and size.
Boundaries: I’m comfortable with pretty much every kind of roleplay- mostly because I haven’t yet roleplayed something that I feel gross/uncomfortable with. I also do E-RP but I need to confirm that my roleplay E-RP partner is, in fact, an adult before roleplaying. Also, please keep in mind the general and roleplay rules- Just because I’m okay with roleplaying certain scenes in private there are some things that are just not allowed to be posted on the forums. Always double check before you post something!
